Because of the snow that ended up turning to rain on Emily & Brandon’s wedding day, we had to think on our feet and make good use of some really random spots within Clemmons First Baptist Church and classrooms that are attached. But as we were shooting, I realized that it didn’t matter where we shot. Emily & Brandon were so happy and so fixated on each other, and when you’ve got that, your images will turn out just fine!

Higs took one for the team and stood outside to hold this door open in the freezing cold rain/sleet/snow for a quick second so I could get these two shots.

Love!

Yep, we used a room that has a stage and was filled with instruments. Fun!

Quite possibly two of my favorite from the day.

All of the doors in the church had these itty-bitty rectangular windows in them and were fun for a ring shot!

Emily & Brandon’s first dance was so sweet.

Emily’s dance with her dad was a lot of fun too.

Brandon’s dance with his mom was heartfelt and emotional.

I love that Emily could not stop smiling!

Being that it was the first weekend in December, we were all a little surprised when it started snowing (and sticking) on Emily & Brandon’s wedding day. It just goes to show you that no matter how much you plan, mother nature can always throw you a curve ball that you have to work around. The clouds and snow severely impacted the already-little amount of natural light in Clemmons First Baptist Church. The challenge to produce good images that were still “sadie higs” style was invigorating and once again proved that no matter the elements surrounding us, a happy and in-love couple is really they key factor in wedding images.

Up first, the gorgeous details.

Emily, just as she was in her bridals, was absolutely stunning.

This image sums up Emily’s calmness the entire time she was waiting to marry Brandon.

Brandon and the guys spent time getting ready upstairs before they headed outside for photos in the snow with Higs.

One of the things I loved that Emily & Brandon did prior to their ceremony was steal a few minutes alone together, but stood on opposite sides of a door so they didn’t see each other.

Emily & Brandon were all-smiles after saying “I do” and walking back down the aisle.

It was so sweet when Emily & Brandon went back into the sanctuary so they could walk their parents out after the ceremony.

While we were honored when our friends Renee & Jonathan of McCardell Photography asked us to photograph a family session of them with their son, Nathan, we were also nervous to photograph other photographers! Everyone works differently and the final product is always unique to that specific photographer’s style. The McCardell’s however, made it super-easy on us though because their family is so much fun! Nathan is such a happy little man and there’s no denying they love each other more than words!

This is such a fun age for photographs. They’re slightly mobile and want to explore everything, but can’t run away from you yet!

Biiiiig yawn! It’s hard being the center of attention!

Higs and I may have gone trigger-happy with Andrea & Michael during their Just Married session because we had the Holy Trinity: a ridiculously in-love couple, gorgeous evening light and plenty of time. Put them all together and we got some of our favorite images of the year!

I love these next few. Andrea & Michael were amazing. The light was amazing. And the Fall breeze decided to cooperate!

This is perhaps one of my favorite images ever. I think I squealed when I saw it in-camera!

They’re so cute!

Andrea & Michael’s four-tier wedding cake was incredible!

It wasn’t until I got up close to shoot the details that I realized the flowers on the cake were hand-made from sugar!

Andrea wore a white fur wrap for the cocktail hour on the balcony of the Ballantyne Country Club.

A variety of friends and family gave very beautiful and personalized toasts which brought on both laughter and tears.

Andrea & Michael had a beautiful first dance…

…which was interrupted by a surprise Lady Gaga detour…

…and then ended back on a romantic note!

Andrea’s dance with her father was also very beautiful and moving.

Congratulations Andrea & Michael! We had a blast and cannot thank you enough for letting us document such a beautiful day!

When we met Andrea and her mom for an initial consult earlier this year, we learned that Andrea’s fiance, Michael, was serving in the United States Marine Corps and had left for his second deployment to Afghanistan just a few months earlier. We enjoyed staying in touch with Andrea as she was working to plan the wedding of their dreams and anxiously awaiting Michael’s arrival home. Seeing their excitement and happiness in the pictures of their reunion when he arrived home was incredible and beautiful. She ran to him and he swooped her up in his arms like it was a scene from a movie! The happiness between the two of them hadn’t faded one bit when we finally got to meet Michael a few months later during our final consult. It excited us even more to be able to document the wedding of such a beautiful relationship.

When I arrived at Andrea’s parent’s house to photograph the girls getting ready, the music and laughter coming from upstairs echoed through the rest of the house and set the mood for the day!

Andrea’s ‘something blue’ was the personalized stitching inside her dress that read, “Exclusively for Andrea.”

Andrea looked absolutely stunning and every detail she had planned camed together just perfectly.

The bridesmaids carried bouquets of deep purple flowers which matched their eggplant-colored gowns, and Andrea carried a bouquet of white roses which was complimented by feathers and pearls.

While I was with the girls, Higs was with the guys, who were having just as much fun!

They sure do clean up well!

The girls and Andrea’s dad broke out into a rendition of “Lean on Me” just moments before they walked down the aisle.

Go-time!

Married!!

After group formals at the church, we headed over to The Ballantyne Country Club with the bridal party for some group shots and then Andrea & Michael’s Just Married session before the guests arrived for the cocktail hour.

I loved this bridal party! They were so much fun and completely and sincerely so happy for Andrea & Michael.
