Back in January when we shot Brooke & Joey’s Winston-Salem maternity photographs, they were already anxious to meet baby Ryder. He finally made his arrival, a little early, actually, on March 17th! Yep, he’s a St. Patty’s Day baby!

We got to meet and photograph 11-day-old Ryder last weekend, and wow, is he a cutie! He was so calm and content the entire time. And yea, he smiled!

Brooke & Joey are so in love and over-the-moon for their new addition!

It’s obvious that he knows and loves his mama already.

I can hear him thinking “oooOOoo! Wonder what that crazy lady keep pointing at me?”

Congratulations, Brooke & Joey! We’re so happy for you!

nolan’s first modeling gig.

When our friend Abigail at Abigail Seymour Photography told us about her idea for the Shutterbabes workshop, we thought the idea was brilliant! There are so many parents out there who want to learn how to take good photographs of their kids, but just don’t know how to use their DSLR cameras other than in full auto mode with the pop-up flash (yikes!). Just understanding the basics of your camera and how it works in conjunction with light will give you better photographs instantaneously and Abigail is helping parents in the Triad accomplish that.

The workshop is mix of lecture and hands-on shooting, so we offered up Nolan to pose as one of the models for them to photograph. I love seeing the difference in how other photographers interpret Nolan through their photographs and post-processing. Abigail did a beautiful job, as always!

You can see more photos of Nolan and the workshop at abigailseymour.com and learn more about Shutterbabes here.

piedmont triad florist terry hyland • • • jh adams inn high point

Recently we had the pleasure of collaborating with with Piedmont Triad florist Terry Hyland, who designed two completely different wedding floral themes (one of which we’ll post at a later date) for a wedding style shoot.  The outdoor patio at the JH Adams Inn in High Point was the perfect backdrop to display the pastel spring floral designs that Terry created.

This soft, shimmering table setting consisted of pastel pink hydragneas, light pink tulips, anenomes and garden roses. The sheer turquoise table overlay complimented the pinks and purples of the flowers.

The open-air patio at the  JH Adams Inn is elegant and simple, yet spacious and allows a warm spring beeze to flow through.

Delectable individual mini-cakes for guests are garnished with pastel purple pansies and and light pink hellebores.

A bride would carry this handtied bouquet of pink hydrangea and cream garden roses, tied with satin ribbon and strands of pearls and crystals.

The gentlemen would wear boutonnieres of pastel garden pansies and lavender roses.

Bridesmaids would carry free-flowing cascading bouquets of pink and purple flowers including lavender, garden roses, tulips, hellebores, pansies and vinca.

greensboro boudoir photography • • • proximity hotel

I recently did a boudoir photography session at The Proximity Hotel in Greensboro and am in love with the way these images turned out. Their rooms have so much natural light and offer such a variety of backdrops for the images, that when you add in a beautiful subject to photograph… oh it’s like a photographer’s heaven!

Sheets in boudoir photography makes the images so soft and romantic.

But I also love these photographs with the boy shorts and bustier against the modern elements of the room.

(All images have been posted with the approval of our gorgeous client.)
