Candice & Daniel own The Beautiful Mess, a photography company based in Charlotte. When I stumbled across their blog a few months ago, I became hooked. It was great to find another young husband-wife team with a similar shooting style in the area. (I’d imagine there are more, I just haven’t found them yet… and if you ARE one of them [or even just another local photog] shoot me an email — we’d love to meet you!) Anyway, Higs & I traveled down to Charlotte on Sunday to meet Candice & Daniel, talk shop and do a shoot swap (they shot us, we shot them — so much fun!). Their shooting style and enthusiasm, in addition to their love for all things photography and each other was incredibly refreshing! Candice & Daniel, thank you for having us, shooting us and letting us shoot you! It was great to meet you and we look forward to seeing you in January at Justin & Mary’s the Spread the Love Tour!

It amazes me how much a baby changes in the first year. It seems like just yesterday we were shooting Melanie’s newborn and 4-month photos, and now she’s 8 months old already! We met up with Melanie, Lindsay & Brad, at Tanglewood Park to get a few shots of her and the family for Christmas. She was adorable as ever! It was wonderful to see you guys again!

We met up with Melanie and her parents, Lindsay & Brad, this morning at Tanglewood Park. (Images coming soon!) We were a little early so we took a few shots of just us, which we definitely need to do more often! (p.s. – we don’t take Nolan to all of our shoots, I promise! Nolan and Melanie were born only a few weeks apart, so Lindsay & I like to get them together after we shoot.)

Abby is five years old, so beautiful and so full of spunk! She and I spent some time chasing each other around the Reynolda Gardens in Winston-Salem on Sunday morning. I think it was a combination of things (Abby’s adorable dresses and hair bows, the beautiful morning sun on a warm Fall day, and the never-ending pathways creating mazes throughout the gardens) that made me feel like I was in the middle of “The Secret Garden.” Enjoy!

She was nervous in the beginning, but warmed up as we spent more time together and couldn’t stop laughing.
Oh so sweet!!! Baby Grant is almost three weeks old, but could not be any more precious! He did so great while I was with him — content and beautiful while sleeping and alert and adorable while awake. His parents, Matt & Sarah, are glowing and have every reason to be so proud of their beautiful little baby boy. Congratulations!
