where did october go?

Why haven’t I posted any recent pictures of our beautiful Nolan baby? Because I don’t know where October went. Oh wait, yes I do: Alon & Ira’s wedding at the Greensboro-High Point Marriott Airport, a long weekend to PA to visit family and for Danielle & Ray’s wedding, H1N1 for Higs one weekend, H1N1/ear infection for Nolan the following weekend, Maisie & James and family, and all the while, continually attempting to find Nolan’s first Halloween costume (which, fyi, was completely unsuccessful). So here are some photos of Nolan’s first October and what we’ve been up to.

His first biter biscuit.

Our 7-month self-take.

Visiting with grandparents and great-grandparents in PA.

Clean gourds make great teethers.

Who needs toys when you have tupperware and pots?

He started crawling and climbing on his 7-month birthday. And hasn’t stopped since.

After a rough night of H1N1 fun.

His first pumpkin patch!

Happy Halloween! Whew.

Meet Maisie. She’s two.

And she was unsure about me.

This is her big brother, James. When I asked James how old he was he said “six and three-quarters” with strong emphasis on the three-quarters. I guess when you’re six, every quarter counts.

Maisie chased after James all morning. And her frog-prince followed almost every step of the way.

Maisie (and her frog-prince) were practicing jumping.

Maisie and their mama, Amy.

James and their dad, Marc.

Of course Maisie didn’t want to be left out.

We asked Maisie to sit next to her family, but she had plans of her own!

albums • • • north carolina wedding photography

When we started sadie.higs photography, one of the things we chose to do was offer our services and products a la carte so our gorgeous couples and families can basically create their own pacakge and only pay for the things they really want, not the things we think they’d want in a package.

Easy and simplistic.

While we’ve recently started providing our couples and families with the option of purchasing prints from their own personalized password-protected online gallery (that’s a mouthful!), we’ve also started working with a new vendor to produce the custom-designed albums we offer. Albums are available in multiple shapes (including square, vertical, and horizontal formats), as well as many different sizes, ranging from 4×5 to 14×11.

While there are a variety of color options available, below is an example of a black handcrafted genuine leather cover. And, as a non-leather alternative, we also offer a photographic cover option, in which the front and back covers would be a full-bleed image printed on photographic paper with a protective laminate coating. (As a back-burner project, we’re in the process of designing a sample album with the photographic cover option and will post images of it when we’re finished.)

Everything about them is so sleek and clean.

Each page is a thick and coated to avoid bending or tearing (which is a brilliant feature — in 3o years, you don’t want your album pages all crinkled and bent!).

And my favorite feature: they are completely gutter-less, so each spread lays completely flat…

…allowing for pratically seamless full-spread images without the distortion of a binding gutter!

There are countless way we can design the spreads, offering, again, a variety of options.

For the handcrafted genuine leather albums, the inside covers are coated with a beautiful, sheen fabric.

While many people choose to display their albums (which is why I, personally, prefer the photographic cover), they can be stored in the tightly-fitting box they arrive in…

…which also includes a protective pillowcase slipcover.

a saturday morning wake-up call.

How can you not love a wake-up call as adorable as this?

Nolan has been trying to pull himself up in his crib lately…

…but he got a little adventurous this morning…

…and actually made it all the way!

danielle & ray • • • north carolina wedding photography

Danielle & Ray went to high school together, but barely spoke to one another. Years later Danielle found out that the first time Ray saw her, he had a feeling that she would someday be his bride. On July 4th, 2008, Ray came closer to making that feeling a reality by proposing to Danielle in front of all of their friends and family. And last Saturday it finally became official when they were married in a beautiful (and chilly!) outdoor ceremony. It was great to document their day and to catch up with them again as it had been almost a year since we shot their engagements! Congratulations guys!

Ray has one of the best laughs I’ve ever heard. It’s so contagious!

My favorite of the day.
