ashley & tj • • • just because

Higs & I have decided to add a session to our service selection called “Just Because.” Why? Well, we think that couples shouldn’t always need a reason, such as an engagement or a wedding, to have romantic photographs take of them. Sometimes they should have photographs to document their love just because.

Ashley & TJ were the first to sign up for this new service, so yesterday we headed to the fields near our house. I love, love, love shooting in fields — they can be so romantic and natural. Although, next time, we’ll be sure to ask permission before trespassing because we almost got kicked out by the old lady who owns it!

We also shot for a bit at a nearby park just as the sun was setting.

sitting up!

Guess who learned to sit up on his own over the weekend? That would be Nolan baby!

Although, we still have to keep an eye on him and avoid setting him on hard surfaces because sometimes (especially when he gets excited) we end up with this:

But then he’s right back up again (with a little help from Mama and Dad)! It’s like it’s a whole new world for him.

And with the way he’s snow-plowing and scootchin’ around, I’m guessing crawling is right around the corner!

portfolio slideshow page

Rather than importing our old blog into this new one, we opted to create a portfolio page with slideshows of our favorite images to help clients get to know our style of work. We’ll continually update them and there will be another bridal slideshow added once Renee’s bridals are posted in September! (You can also find the portfolio page in the menu bar under: all the important info> portfolio.)

And, again, because no post should be without an image (or two), here are a few I took last week in a nearby field. Love ‘em and need to take more like them!

renee • • • bridals (sneak peek)

Here’s a little sneak peek from Renee’s bridal session yesterday. More to come after she and Jason get married in September!

facebook wedding application

Facebook has recently added a new application for couples who are planning their wedding. It’s pretty neat actually, and I wish it was around when we were planning our wedding! It lets couples create a wedding profile, get advice and ideas from other engaged couples, as well as search for wedding vendors (photographers, djs, bakeries, florists, etc.) in their area. We’ve created a profile for sadie.higs photography, so if you’ve worked with us please check out our listing and write a review and become a fan!

And because no post on a photography blog is complete with out a photo, here’s one of a tuckered-out Nolan baby showing his Steeler pride after last night’s win over the Cardinals!
