Remember sweet Lucas from his session in Old Salem last May? He just became a big brother! Lucas and his parents, Lauren & Mat, recently welcomed baby Colby. He was wide awake the entire time and was pretty relaxed and cooperative for only being a few days old.

Lauren is a gorgeous, loving mother.

Lucas is adapting well to being a big brother, but didn’t want much to do with Colby, or me for that matter, while I was shooting.

I love how these few images of Mat holding Colby convey Mat’s strength, yet tenderness with his new son.

LOVE this image of the whole family!

Lucas is very much a daddy’s boy.

These boys are going to be a handful!

When our friend, Evan, asked if he could use Nolan in a 30-second action movie he was making, we were all for it.

Check out Nolan’s first acting gig!

You can’t tell by the finished product, but Nolan went a little bit Hollywood on us during the shoot.

Demanding. Uncooperative. Got up and walked off set.

Ok. He was just being two. But he seriously did do all of those things.

Being that Higs and/or I typically have a camera in hand chasing after Nolan, it’s not often that we ever have photos of the three of us together in one shot, except for self-takes. And while we love the self-takes, they can’t fully document the way we are as a family. So we turned to the super-talented Kellie Kano to document us at this point in our life.

We’ve loved Kellie’s work for years and knew that we’d be happy with whatever images she provided us. But we were ecstatic with the outcome because our normally happy go-lucky Nolan was a completely uncooperative toddler that evening and she still managed to capture his personality perfectly. Meet baby Madilyn. She’s almost 7 months old and has newly mastered the sitting up thing. It’s a whole new world for her! I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, I love photographing kiddos at this age, not only because you can sit them down and they can’t get away from you, but also because so much personality starts to come out around then. Madilyn was a sweetheart and completely cooperative, but it definitely took her a while to figure out who I was, why I was all up in her face and why her parents were making her sit in the grass. But wow — those eyes are amazing!

She behaved, but wasn’t so much a fan of the grass.

I can’t help but smile every time I see this photo of Madilyn & their dog Charlie.

Her cute pink ruffled baby bloomers had her name embroidered on the back.

Charlie was great entertainment!

Meet Sidney (4) and Carson (2), two very super-energetic brothers! (Although, at this age, what kid isn’t?) I’ve noticed, with Nolan becoming more confident in his mobility each day, that it’s becoming harder and harder to document him because he never stands still. So you can imagine the running around it takes to document two non-stop little guys! But they’re happy and having fun, playing together, climbing, running around and riding bikes, and that’s all that matters!

Their family has tomato plants growing in their backyard and Carson was plucking the grape tomatoes right off the vines to eat them! Not sure many parents of a 2 year old can say the same thing! I do, however, think Carson looks a lot like our Nolan; I think it’s because of his cute little haircut and those big brown eyes.

They loved it when their dad thew them up in the air and let go for a second before catching them!

Love Carson’s expression! It’s like, ”Really Mom? Do you have to infront of the camera?”

Sidney poppped up out of nowhere when I was taking a few of their parents.

These boys sure do love to ride their bikes!

They picked these wild flowers earlier in the day. Looks to me like they’ve got a future florist on their hands!
