Now that wedding season is over and our Saturdays are free, we’ve been taking advantage of the still-warm North Carolina weather with trips to the park and playing outside in the leaves. Love this kiddo!

I think part of the fun of Halloween costumes is actually putting them together rather than buying a pre-made one from the store. Last year, we made Nolan a penguin because he was so fascinated with them.

Earlier this year, Nolan got a pair of safety goggles at a Lowe’s craft event for kids and he wears them all the time. At dinner. In the bathtub. Just because. So we brainstormed how to utilize the goggles in a Halloween costume.

And came up with: a mad scientist.

It was actually a really easy costume to put together. Found the lab coat at an online medical supply site. Detached the hair from an adult Halloween mask, then teased and hairsprayed the crap out of it. The bowtie was actually the hardest part. I couldn’t find one for kids in stores, so I made one from a girl’s hairbow.

I cannot believe it’s been almost 2 years since I photographed this family. It seems like just yesterday I was chasing Abby around Reynolda Gardens and now she’s a big sister! Love this gorgeous family.

It’s been so great to photograph this family throughout the year. It’s hard to believe how much Malina has grown since her newborn photos in January. And sweet Maya is just as beautiful as she was when we met back in March.

It took Maya a few minutes to warm up and remember me…

…but there it was!

Last weekend we spent a few days at the beach. I’m a morning person, so I loved being able to get up before the sun and appreciate the beauty and calm before the day began.

Shortly after, the kiddos joined me and we fed the seagulls.
