kiddos at the park.

We met up with our past clients (and now friends!) Lauren, Mat & their son Lucas (who’s just a few weeks older than Nolan) for a play-date early one morning in hopes of beating the heat of this scorching North Carolina August. The boys, who are 17 months, got along just fine, but are still at a point where they’d rather play next to each other or by themselves than with each other.

Nolan was completely content for a while with the acorn he found. Why do we even buy him toys?

Props to Mat for making it down the kids twisty-slide with Lucas on his lap!

Hahaha! Weeeeee! Nolan loves slides!

See? Playing next to each other, but not together.

We put them in the wagon together and went for a walk around the park. They didn’t talk or babble to each other, but kept passing their books back and forth. At least they were sharing.

This is Nolan so much these days: running around and exploring with us chasing after him trying to get a photo of his face, rather than just his cute behind.

I love when our past clients come back and ask us to document their life as it progresses. It’s like catching up with old friends! We photographed Brooke & Joey’s maternity in Winston-Salem back in January and then we were able to take Ryder’s newborn pictures when he was born in March. He’s about 5 months old now and is as adorable as ever! Brooke & Joey are still glowing and over-the-moon for this little man!

He is SO stinkin’ cute!

What a heatbreaker he’s gonna be!

When one of our clients inquired about purchasing a photo session gift certificate for her cousin and their new baby, we were thrilled! Gift certificates make a great gift and the resulting product is something that can be enjoyed for years to come! If you’d like to purchase a sadie higs photograhy gift certificate, please contact us at sadiehigs@sadiehigsphotography.com.

Meet baby Madilyn. She’s almost 7 months old and has newly mastered the sitting up thing. It’s a whole new world for her! I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, I love photographing kiddos at this age, not only because you can sit them down and they can’t get away from you, but also because so much personality starts to come out around then. Madilyn was a sweetheart and completely cooperative, but it definitely took her a while to figure out who I was, why I was all up in her face and why her parents were making her sit in the grass. But wow — those eyes are amazing!

Just checkin’ things out.

She behaved, but wasn’t so much a fan of the grass.

Seriously, those eyes!

So perplexed, but so cute!

I can’t help but smile every time I see this photo of Madilyn & their dog Charlie.

Her cute pink ruffled baby bloomers had her name embroidered on the back.

Charlie was great entertainment!

Meet Sidney (4) and Carson (2), two very super-energetic brothers! (Although, at this age, what kid isn’t?) I’ve noticed, with Nolan becoming more confident in his mobility each day, that it’s becoming harder and harder to document him because he never stands still. So you can imagine the running around it takes to document two non-stop little guys! But they’re happy and having fun, playing together, climbing, running around and riding bikes, and that’s all that matters!

Their family has tomato plants growing in their backyard and Carson was plucking the grape tomatoes right off the vines to eat them! Not sure many parents of a 2 year old can say the same thing! I do, however, think Carson looks a lot like our Nolan; I think it’s because of his cute little haircut and those big brown eyes.

They loved it when their dad thew them up in the air and let go for a second before catching them!

Love Carson’s expression! It’s like, ”Really Mom? Do you have to infront of the camera?”

Sidney poppped up out of nowhere when I was taking a few of their parents.

These boys sure do love to ride their bikes!

They picked these wild flowers earlier in the day. Looks to me like they’ve got a future florist on their hands!

happy father’s day • • • (belated)

Father’s Day was a week and a half ago, but today was the first time I’ve had a chance to look through the images I took of Higs & Nolan that evening. Hahaha! Look at Nolan’s confused face in the one on the right, lol!

You’re wondering, “What’s up with the glasses?” Well, Higs had mentioned in passing a few months ago that he needed new sunglasses. Jackpot! A perfect Father’s Day Gift! But then I realized, as I was standing in the store looking at glasses, that I couldn’t actually buy him sunglasses without seeing what they’d look like on him. I mean, I knew what his old ones looked like and he liked them, but it was just too tough to decide without his head there to try them on. So we bought him these fabulous orange oversized clown glasses to serve as an “IOU one pair of real sunglasses the next time we go shopping.”

I think Nolan liked them just as much as Higs.

My boys.

Happy (belated blog post) Father’s Day, Higs! We love you so very much!

PS — We have finally and officially bought him a new real pair of sunglasses that are much less eye-catching than those pictured above.
